The Bristol Channel has the second highest rise and fall of tides anywhere in the world! It also has a huge variety of fish species.
The cod season is between August and May, with the best catches in the coldest months between October and January. Bass is from May onwards and all the rays are resident most of the year round, including thornback, blonde, spotted and small eye.
There is no commercial fishing allowed in the Bristol Channel, however there are various day trips where you can go sports fishing. This means that the fish are caught and then let back into the water.
