There has been a market in Watchet since the 13th century and this tradition continues today with the lively and colourful Watchet Summer Market. The historic market was held in the Market House which now houses the Town Museum.
Todays Market is situated on The Esplanade in brightly coloured gazebos overlooking the harbour and marina.
The Market starts in May and goes through the summer to September and traders are ready and waiting for you from 9.30am until 3.30pm. There are often a couple of specials during the year, normally at Easter and October half term. Please check the events list for these dates.
Traders arrive to offer the best of local produce, craft, cheeses and chutneys, bakery goods, cakes and chocolate, garden plants, books, local art, gifts, antiques and curios and a fresh fish stall. There are also food traders and tea and coffee vendors for you to enjoy alfresco eating at the market.
You can get to the market by train using the West Somerset Railway service from Minehead or Bishops Lydeard. By Number 28 bus from Minehead and Taunton. You can walk, or travel by car. There are 4 car parks in Watchet so if Harbour Road Car Park is full check out Anchor Street, Market Street and the Mineral Yard, these are all within walking distance of the Town and Esplanade.
