Not long to wait now!

The excitement is building as we approach a weekend filled with nostalgia and entertainment that transports us back to the 1940s.

Watchet 1940s Group is thrilled to announce that they will be hosting their highly anticipated weekend of entertainment, in support of the West Somerset Railway's 1940s Event. This annual celebration drawing visitors from near and far who are eager to immerse themselves in the sights and sounds of this remarkable decade.

Here in Watchet, the festivities kick off on 19th September at 3pm with the Tea Dance at the Royal British Legion. This event is always a highlight of the weekend, attracting a diverse crowd of dance enthusiasts and those simply looking to enjoy the lively atmosphere. Due to its popularity, we have made the decision to limit the refreshment tickets to just 70 people. To secure a ticket, guests can visit the ticket booth located outside the Royal British Legion starting at 2pm. As is customary, tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis, so we encourage everyone to arrive early to avoid disappointment!

As for the evening festivities, we regret to inform you that the Cheese Supper and the Pie & Mash event have already sold out, reflecting the high demand for this unique experience. However, there is no need to worry, as there are plenty of other local pubs and venues in Watchet that will be open and ready to serve delicious food throughout the evening. These establishments are excited to offer a range of dining options.

We have an exciting programme of music that spans the entire spectrum of the 1940s genre. From the upbeat rhythms of Swing and the captivating melodies of Big Band Sounds to the tunes of the Grand Ole Opry, there will be something for everyone to enjoy.

Our vintage market will be in full swing from 10am on both Saturday and Sunday, featuring the largest selection of Vintage Stall holders we have had at this event. Attendees can expect to find an array of unique items, including militaria, exquisite millinery, collectables, and clothing that harkens back to the fashion of the 1940s. This is a fantastic opportunity for vintage enthusiasts and collectors alike to find treasures and embrace the charm of this bygone era.

Our local food establishments will also be prepared to welcome visitors with an array of 1940s fare, ensuring that there is plenty of tea and cake available to keep everyone energized throughout the day.

As we count down the days to this extraordinary weekend, we invite everyone to join us in celebrating the rich history and culture of the 1940s. It's a chance to connect with the community, enjoy fantastic entertainment, and create lasting memories with friends and family. We can't wait to see you there!
