VISITOR CENTRE

Watchet Visitor Centre can be found at the top end of Swain Street linked directly to  Watchet Boat Museum  and the Town Council offices. Its a quick walk over the bridge from the West Somerset Railway Station and car park or a leisurely walk along Rope Walk at the top end of Harbour Road car park next to the coach park.

Start your visit at the Visitor Centre and you can pick up all the information you need for a great day out!

Pick up a town map, not only will you be able to find your way around, but on the rear of the map is an activity for the children (or adults) to do so that you cover the whole town!

Pick up a tide timetable, you can then decide on crabbing, fossil hunting or paddling!

Pick up a history walk and you will leave Watchet wanting to know more!

Pick up leaflets for other activities and events and you’ll have to come back to Watchet again and again!

Pick up a gift for friends or family. Book a guided walk. Join in with an event.

While in the Visitor Centre, a visit to the Boat Museum is a must as its located in the same building!

Our normal opening hours are as follows:
April to September
10.00am to 3.00pm Tuesday to Saturday
(7 days per week in the school holidays)

October to March
10.00am to 3.00pm Thursday, Friday and Saturday

ACCESSIBILITY

The Visitor Centre has a level access and 3ft wide opening doors. Central sales units are on wheels so can be moved for greater accessibility if required.  The door to the Boat Museum is also 3ft wide and on a level concrete surface. A monitor under the mezzanine level shows viewers the displays situated above, so there is no need to go upstairs! The museum objects are displayed mainly without cases and visitors are welcome to experience them through touch. The walkways between exhibits are over 3ft wide. There are large windows with natural light and no flashing lights. The background music is fully adjustable if visitors need the volume changed  or turned off.
