“What I love about Watchet” – Sam, Sam’s Deli

Where do I start when I think about the special town of Watchet, a place where I both live and operate my own small business – Sam’s Deli.

Watchet is still one of those places where you walk along the street and you are greeted with countless “hellos, good mornings & good afternoons”, a place where you are never a stranger.

We are blessed to be surrounded by beautiful countryside and the ever-changing Bristol Channel.

Although a fairly small town, Watchet is full of events and attractions, whether you love to walk along the coastal paths or the Mineral Line to Washford or prefer a more leisurely visit enjoying the many eating establishments and award-winning pubs.

I have yet to find another town where so many wonderful events  take place, all thanks to the town’s small army of volunteers: we have the hilarious wheelbarrow race, eclectic street markets, a great carnival, a week’s worth of festivities hosted by ‘Watchet Summertime’  and of course the amazing Watchet Music Festival which always sells out and attracts visitors from far and wide.

Music and Art are especially well represented in Watchet with a number of galleries including the Award winning ‘Contains Art’ installation.

Live music is played in a number of venues nearly every week, with my particular favourite being Pebbles Tavern which in addition to winning CAMRA Cider Pub of The Year for five years running, hosts regular top class performers from all over the world.

Watchet for me, to borrow a phrase is “The Little Town That Could”

Welcome to our beautiful Watchet website! Take a look around!

The lovely bright Watchet Scratch the Surface logo and colour coded signage is Watchets own branding and marketing strategy.

Central government funding helped set up the Coastal Communities Team back in 2015. As part of the initial funding CCT set up a Branding Committee which set out to produce a logo and colour coding strategy for the promotion of Watchet. This logo and strategy was agreed by CCT,  Watchet Town Council and Onion Collective (Fund holder) as a joint town marketing strategy. The Watchet Scratch the Surface logo is available for use to promote our lovely town, please contact info@lovewatchet.co.uk if you would like to use this logo on your promotional information.

This website was funded by a grant from LEADER, a European Union initiative funding community-led local development for rural areas. Its aim is to promote Watchet, support Watchet businesses and advertise Watchet Events.

Watchet Visitor Centre actively promote Watchet using the Watchet Scratch the Surface branding.
