You are invited to Celebrate Caturn’s on the 20th November 2021 from 2pm in Watchet.
Our event this year will be spread around the town. Come into Watchet and make a lantern for the evening procession at one of our Lantern making Stations. Bring the children onto the esplanade to learn how to stilt walk and juggle. Be entertained. Visit the local shops and see how our shops are celebrating! Visit local Cafes for a Caturn’s Afternoon Tea or Pop into a local hostelry for a Cider!
The Queen will arrive during the afternoon and she will be holding Court on the Esplanade. Come and see her entourage, why not join in by dressing the part. There will be a prize for the best adult fancy dress and child fancy dress. Why not dress as a sailor, street urchin, ships cat or local serving wench!
At Dusk all lantern holders will we asked to go and line Swain Street for the Queen to walk through our town. Shops will light their lanterns and the procession will begin. As the processions passes Lantern holders will be invited to join the walk around town. On returning to the Esplanade there will be spiced apple cake and a tot of cider for all!
Queen Catherine will receive her Watchet Blue Cloth and other gifts and will head back on her way after making merry!
